Cascadia Solar installed a cutting edge backup power system in Port Ludlow to close out the year! First, we added a Tesla Powerwall backup battery to an existing solar PV system to provide emergency power from the battery and solar array during grid outages.

The Tesla system takes over quickly and allows electric vehicle charging with any excess solar energy generated during the outage. Next, we installed a new vehicle-to-grid system from Ford that allows the owners to plug in their F150 Lightning electric truck and use it as a secondary backup source if the Tesla battery is completely drained. The huge battery in the F150 has the same storage capacity as ten additional Tesla Powerwalls.
